Department of Physical & Mathematical Sciences

Physical and Mathematical Sciences department is one of the most dynamic and prominent department under faculty of Food Science and Technology in Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU). It has started its journey from the beginning of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology in 2009-10. Since its establishment of 2009, it has been providing quality education by giving scientific, mathematical and technical knowledge to students. The Department offers different courses at undergraduate level of Food Science and Technology and Fisheries. The faculty members of the department work with great eagerness in research and education, in order to develop talented people able to cope with future challenges.

Message from Department Head

Welcome to the Department of physical and Mathematical Sciences’ website. Our goal for undergraduate student is to provide them a high quality education which includes hands on practice. The department has designed different courses for B.Sc. (Hons.) in Food Science and Technology and B. Sc. Fisheries (Hons.) which includes a wide range of knowledge in the areas of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Sciences aiming to the integrated education and make future leaders. We hope that emphasizing these areas will make the students well skilled to take leadership roles in near future.

Departmental Teaching

Students studying   Food Science & Technology take courses in the basic scientific disciplines of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science. These courses provide Food Science & Technology students with the ability through multidisciplinary studies to understand & integrate the scientific disciplines relevant to food. The student will also be extend their knowledge and understandability  of food through a scientific approach and to be able to apply that knowledge to meet the needs of society , industry & the consumer for sustainable  food quality, safety and security of supply. The Department offers 10 different courses (25 credits).

Department of Physical & Mathematical Sciences will soon open MS in Computational Food Engineering which will bring a new era to higher education.
