Biography

Gouranga Ch.Chanda received hisB.Sc. and M.Sc.(in Dairy Science)degrees in Animal Husbandry (with Fist position in First class) from the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensing, Bangladesh and the Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Economics from Institute of Bangladesh Studies, Rajshahi University, Bangladesh. Hecompleted his Post Graduate Diploma in Youth and Development from CYP: Asia Pacific Centre, Chandigarh, India with FCPS in Malaysia. He participatedand successfully completed several training, conferences, workshops etc. regarding teaching, research, extension, agri-biotechnology, microcredit & rural development from different renowned institutions home & abroad.He joined as Associate Professor in the Department of Dairy and Poultry Science, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU)in March,1999 and then promoted as Professor  since  April, 2003 till to-date. He servedas Founding Registrar, Dean, Faculty of Food Science and Technology,  CVASU, and Head of the Department of Dairy and Poultry Science.He also served as Class-I gazetted officer in various capacities in different service and training institutions at the Department of Youth Development (DYD), Ministry of Youth & Sports (MoYS), Government of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh, GOB from Oct.1980 to March,1999; and as Research Fellow/Investigator,  in the Department of Dairy Science, BAU. He possesses the consultancy experience on Dairy Processing at ATDP, IFDC, Ministry of Agriculture, GOB;Feasibility Study for Development of Small Scale Dairy Farming in Noakhali by Regional Fisheries & Livestock Development Component, GOB (DLS & DOF)-DANIDA; and Counterpart of ADB assisted projects on Research & Development and Training& Entrepreneurship Development, DYD, MoYS, GOB. Dr. Chanda has a strong record of research in his area that includes about 33 publications /papers in the reputed journals, proceedings&magazines home& abroad; and some popular scientific/social articles in the local magazines. He also performed a Self-Assessment study on “Self-Assessment Study at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for Enhancement of Educational Quality & Professional Development.

My research experiences and interests cover the challenging issues of Education, dairy processing, biotechnological activities of dairy & related food products; and rural development activities.
