Classical Microbiology

General safety regulation of a microbiology laboratory, examining biochemical, physiological, morphological, and cultural characteristics, using microscope, to identify and classify microorganisms in human, animal, water, and food specimens. General Procedure for virus characterization, Cell culture techniques, Common serological tests including HI, CFT, FAT, ELISA etc.,  Investigating the relationship between organisms and disease, including the control of epidemics and the effects of antibiotics on microorganisms. Perform tests on water, food and the environment to detect harmful microorganisms. Outbreak investigation of microbial diseases, zoonoses and other public health hazards

 Molecular Microbiology

Hands on experience upon extraction of genomic DNA, Plasmid and RNA, Polymerase chain reaction (One step, Hot start, Multiplex, Touchdown), Plasmid profiling, Poly Acryl amide Gel Electrophoresis (PAGE), Plasmid vectored cloning.

A good working command with Primer designing basics, Phylogenic analysis and other basic tools of bioinformatics and computational biology, theoretical knowledge of Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE), DNA sequencing, Multilocus Sequence typing (MLST), Restriction fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP).
