Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

Message from Dean

Welcome to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU). Since I took the office in February, 2017, I have attempted to identify avenues through which the Faculty could advance and ensure extraordinary academic atmosphere for effective teaching and learning. I was fortunate to inherit a newly updated syllabus developed after 17 long years which included some wonderful teaching methodologies like Problem based learning (PBL). I am sure this will be a new era of veterinary teaching and learning in Bangladesh as well as South Asia where CVASU can play as the pioneer. Likewise our novel Internship scheme at undergraduate veterinary courses, I believe the PBL will be very useful for our new generation graduates who will contribute new century challenges in coming days. I would like to congratulate all the Faculty and staff of CVASU to achieve this feat. Our new challenges will be how to maximize the input and make our graduates a truly world class. The newly launched Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is working closely with our Faculty to assess the strength and weakness and I am very grateful to HEQEP for initiating this process.

You will be glad to know that CVASU is passing a wonderful time and looking for a huge expansion plan. We are fortunate to have strong political and government support as evidenced by establishment of new off campus at Dhaka, Hathazari and CoxsBazar. One of the most exciting parts during my deanship was the building of the new Small Animal Hospital and Research Centre at Purbachal, Dhaka. This was an example of an opportunity that was waiting to be seized upon. We were fortunate to take the chance, and we are going to have a facility that supports all of our programs and is the envy of virtually every other veterinary college. Another significant expansion is the Farm based campus established at Hathazari which will be very crucial for 3 new faculty, applied research, skills and innovations for CVASU graduates and researchers. This will be a unique campus where all dairy, poultry and other farms will be located and we are grateful to the current government for supporting us both financially and logistically.

Over the years, we have been successful in developing strong international collaboration. We are now regularly sending our CVASU students in Universities of USA, Malaysia, Thailand and India which is unique in Bangladesh context. Recently we have signed MOU with Assam Agricultural University (AAU), India for wildlife exposure and University Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia and Khon Kaen University (KKU), Thailand where future extern Veterinary student and staff exchange will be possible. We are still looking forward to explore more opportunities for our future graduates at home and abroad.

Finally, I would like to ask your support to help us grow and together we can make CVASU great!
