Biography

Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman received the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) and M.S. degree in Pathology from the Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, Bangladesh, and the Ph.D. degree from the United Graduate School of Veterinary Science, Yamaguchi University, Yamaguchi, Japan.

He joined as an Assistant Professor in the DPP, CVASU in 2003 and served as an Associate Professor from 2011 until 2016. Currently, he holds a position of Professor in the DPP, CVASU. His research interests are in the inherited neurodegenerative disorders and other inherited disorders and traits of human and animals, immunopathology, genomics of infectious diseases of animals, zoonotic diseases, etc.

Dr. Rahman has a strong record of research in his areas that include publications of a number of scientific papers in the reputed peer-reviewed national and international journals such as The Veterinary Journal, Journal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation, The Journal of Veterinary Medical Science, Bangladesh Veterinary Journal, Bangladesh Journal of Veterinary Medicine, etc. He received several prestigious scholarships from abroad and several national and international awards such as i) Dean Award by The United Graduate School of Veterinary Science, Yamaguchi University, Japan, 2013; ii) Japanese Government Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship for doctorate degree from 2009 to 2013; iii) Japanese Government Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship for Research studentship from 2008 to 2009; iv) Young Scientist Best Presentation Award by the Bangladesh Society of Veterinary Education and Research (BSVER), Bangladesh, 2001; during his academic career.

Research Interest

My research experiences and interests are the veterinary diagnostic investigations of inherited and metabolic diseases, especially neurodegenerative disorders such as lysosomal storage diseases, in domestic and wild animals and birds, using a variety of methods from the fields of veterinary clinical sciences (veterinary clinical pathology, biochemistry and genetics). These inherited neurodegenerative lysosomal storage disease occurred by the specific enzyme deficiency due to mutation of the specific genes. I am also interest to work on the various infectious diseases of animals and birds, zoonotic potentials of the infectious agents and their genetics. In addition, I am very much enthusiastic to work on immunopathological disorders of human and animals such as hypersensitivity, autoimmunity and immunodeficiency.
