Students’ Welfare

Directorate of Students’ Welfare

The Directorate has the overall responsibility for student's welfare and student life on campus. It provides the students with various opportunities to foster their intellectual and personal growth, to make friends from different cultures, and to ensure the overall educational experience at CVASU. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the diversity of students’ activities organized by the office of Student Affairs and to expand their horizons outside the classrooms through exposure to social, cultural, career development, recreational, and governance programs.

Financial Support

CVASU ensures every convenience is provided to enable a smooth, stress-free campus life where students can single-mindedly focus on their education, helping them transform into confident and competent veterinary professionals. For the needy students, the university arranges special stipend and scholarships through various outsources. Related information can be availed from the Directorate of Students’ Welfare.

Tutorial System

The Tutorial system is here to help you gain understanding and insight into any difficulties you may be experiencing, to develop emotional resilience, and put into effect real change, enabling you to fulfill your academic and personal potential. The 1st year students are guided by respective faculty members of the Faculty within a 4-5 student cohort group.

Medical Center

The university has a dedicated health center for taking care of the students’ health. The center has qualified doctors and health instructors who are available at the campus throughout the day and are available over the phone during emergencies. The center also provides basic medications for the students for free of cost. Additionally, there is a 24-hour ambulance service to tackle any unwanted medical emergencies.

Sports and Recreation

The Physical Education department provides facilities for the gym, football, cricket, volleyball, tennis, badminton, and basketball. Regular sport meets and game competitions are important features of campus life. Cable TV connection is available in halls and residential quarters. The students frequently arrange cultural programs, film shows, indoor games competitions, and so on.

Canteen

Each residential hall in addition to the central students’ canteen (Shubho Canteen) has dining facilities in a very reasonable price.

Shuttle Bus

University has several buses and mini-buses to carry the non-residential students to the campus. The buses are operated on different routes throughout the city. Bus routes and schedules can be availed from the Transport Office of CVASU.

Residential Halls

Currently, there are two residential halls at the university- Bir Muktijoddha M.A. Hannan Hall for male students and Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Hall for female students.  A total of 804 students can reside in Bir Muktijoddha M.A. Hannan Hall while the accommodation capacity of the Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Hall is about 420. Each residential hall has indoor games facilities, a spacious TV room, and a flower garden.

Safety and Security

The campus is a safe and secured place to study, stay, and socialize. Though the campus is fully covered by CCTV surveillance, it is sensible to be cautious for personal safety. The students are also advised to take precautions while using stairs, lifts, lab articles, and any other electrical appliances. There is a very busy and accident-prone road at the front gate of the campus and it is highly recommended to be extra vigilant while crossing the road.

Staff-students’ Responsibilities

Faculty members instruct undergraduate and graduate students and also conduct research and consultancy works. A total of 88 faculty members along with 216 non-academic and supporting staff are constantly rendering their respective services for ensuring academic excellence. Our faculty members continuously share their experiences; prepare scholarly articles and presentations for other fellow academicians, researchers, practicing vets, and students, and always link with the field problems to develop new research proposals. The students are expected to interact with their course teachers and instructors for developing their course understanding.

Code of conduct

Code of conduct is the principle that dictates the students how they should operate and behave in campus life. These codes include high moral and ethical standards; respect and tolerance; honesty and integrity; discipline; obedience to the university rules and regulations; community and environmental welfare; and fair competition. It is highly expected that students behave in such a way that a peaceful harmonious atmosphere exists on the campus. It is also recommended that students rightly use social media and show their tolerant positive attitude with the utmost respect to all communities. Proctor office is supervising and controlling authority in this regard and you may contact the Proctorial Body for any further clarification.

Harassment

The university has a ‘zero-tolerance’ policy for any sorts of student harassment or ragging. The proctor office takes care of this issue with the utmost importance. The students are advised to communicate with the proctor office for any such incidences. CVASU expects all members of its community to treat each other with respect, politeness, and consideration.

Academic Dress Codes

Students should wear a smart but comfortable dress in theory classes while they should wear a lab coat (white apron) in the laboratory and academic year-specific clinical uniform in the Hospital. Furthermore, internship students must wear scrub suits during handling patients in the hospital. Students are recommended to use full covered shoes rather than slippers during working in Teaching Veterinary Hospital.

Academic Integrity and Plagiarism

Academic integrity or academic honesty is the basic foundation of academic and career life. It includes the attitude, behaviour, and actions in an academic environment while seating for exams, doing researches, preparing assignments, presenting, or creating a project. Honesty, trust, respect, fairness, and responsibility are the five crucial values you have to maintain during your academic life. Moreover, academic integrity is the commitment to live by these values. On the other hand, Plagiarism is an aspect of academic integrity, which is to use, steal or represent anyone’s ideas, words, data, or products as your own ideas, words, data or products or using those without giving proper credit to the original author/s. Non-compliance with these rules will mean a breach of academic integrity. Any proven evidence of ‘Lack of Academic Integrity’ may bring the student under the Disciplinary Action as per University Policy.
