Kanij Fatema Nishan is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Food Science and Nutrition, Faculty of Food Science and Technology, Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU). Her academic and research interests lie at the intersection of food science, human nutrition, nutraceuticals, functional foods, and metabolic health. Her research focuses on exploring the nutritional and therapeutic potential of food-derived bioactive compounds and developing functional food products with potential benefits for the prevention and management of chronic metabolic disorders, particularly type 2 diabetes.

She has been involved in research related to the development and nutritional evaluation of functional food products and the assessment of bioactive compounds from locally available and underutilized food resources. Her broader research goal is to contribute to the development of affordable, sustainable, culturally relevant, and scientifically validated food-based strategies for the prevention of metabolic disorders and promotion of public health.
