Dr. Md. Mahiuddin Zahangir received his Ph. D. from the Marine Biological Station, Sado Island Center for Ecological Sustainability, Niigata University, Japan, in 2021. His research was on the neuroendocrine regulation of semilunar spawning mechanisms in pufferfish. Earlier, he received his Bachelor of Science in Fisheries (Hons.) degree in 2012 from the Faculty of Fisheries, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh, and his Master of Science (M.S.) in June 2014 from the Department of Fisheries Biology and Genetics. After successful completion of graduation with a bright result, he joined as a Lecturer in the Department of Fish Biology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Fisheries, Chattogram Veterinary, and Animal Sciences University and served as a Lecturer from March 2014 to March 2016, as an Assistant Professor from March 2016 to March 2021, and as an Associate Professor from March 2021 to March 2025. Currently, he holds the position of Professor in the Department of Fish Biology and Biotechnology, CVASU. 

Dr. Md. Mahiuddin Zahangir possesses a strong academic and research background in his professional arena that includes a number of internationally reputed scientific articles.

  1. Principal investigator- Reproductive biology and mariculture potential of goldspot mullet (Liza parsia) from the Bay of Bengal in exploring the blue economy, funded by UGC-CVASU for the financial year 2022-2023. 
  2. Co-principal investigator- Captive breeding of two coastal fish species of Bangladesh for land-based and cage aquaculture, funded by the department of fisheries for the financial year 2022-2023.
  3. Co-principal investigator- Isolation and identification of indigenous microalgae from different coastal regions of Bangladesh and its utilization as live feed in aquaculture industry, funded by KGF for the financial year 2021-2024.
  4. Principal Investigator- Unveiling the morphometrics, feeding ecology and breeding season of Plotosus canius from the Bay of Bengal, funded by UGC-CVASU for the financial year 2021-2022.
  5.
