His research focuses on veterinary molecular genetics, mutation discovery, comparative genomics, and inherited metabolic and immunological diseases across livestock, companion, and avian species. Dr. Faruq has contributed significantly to the discovery, identification, and molecular characterization of novel and disease-associated pathogenic variants linked to Pompe Disease (GAA), FOXP3-associated reproductive and immune dysfunction, Niemann–Pick disease, cystinuria, and other hereditary disorders in animals. His research integrates molecular diagnostics, comparative pathology, and translational veterinary medicine within the framework of the One Health concept.
Dr. Faruq has authored and co-authored more than 30 scientific publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals, including several first-author articles in internationally recognized journals such as Genes and Animals. His notable scientific achievements include the discovery and molecular characterization of pathogenic mutations in Japanese quails, cats, cattle, buffaloes, and dogs, contributing to the advancement of veterinary genomics and precision animal medicine.
His current research interests include veterinary genomics, immunogenetics, reproductive genetics, molecular diagnostics, inherited disease biology, veterinary surgery, and comparative pathology. In addition to his academic and research activities, he is a registered veterinarian under the Bangladesh Veterinary Council and maintains professional interests in dairy, poultry, and companion animal medicine.
