Associate Professor
Department of Physiology Biochemistry and Pharmacology Faculty of Veterinary Medicine |
Dr. Md. Shohel Al Faruk, serving as an Associate Professor in Department of Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology. He completed his graduation in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and MS in Biochemistry from Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU), Bangladesh. He received Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Sunchon National University, South Korea. He joined as a faculty member in the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology in 2014 and then promoted as Assistant Professor in 2016 and Associate Professor in 2021 at the same department. As a part of his undergraduate internship program, he has experienced some overseas training on large and small animal medicine in Madras Veterinary College, Chennai and Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal, India. He has more research interest on molecular biology in the field of veterinary science. His MS research focused on analysis of different gene in dairy cattle and provides basic information about reference value of serum chemistry in cross-bred and native cattle in Bangladesh. In his doctoral study, he investigated different metabolic diseases in large animal through the diagnostic tools of advanced molecular biology. He enhanced his professional skills and experiences to work in versatile molecular research in home and abroad. His research area widely covered by advanced molecular technique, hemato-biochemical assay, genomics, proteomics and computational biology as well. He have a plan to work with national and international collaborative research groups with an aim to improve education and research activities in this regarding sector in Bangladesh.
Mr. Faruk has been continuing his research work on molecular biology since of his early career life. He published his fundamental research papers in several peer-reviewed International and National Journals. Mr. Faruk participated and presented his research findings at many conferences in home and abroad. As a young scientist and having research potentiality, he supervised good number of students in their undergraduate research. He is a registered veterinarian of Bangladesh Veterinary Council and holds professional membership of Bangladesh Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Association, Korean Society of Veterinary Science etc. His dream is to establish a molecular level research laboratory and work for constructing a time demanded scientific channel between his home university and others institute in abroad to strengthen our research capacity significantly.
