Subrata Kumar Shil is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Histology under the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

He has completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree (2010) and Master of Science (MS) in Anatomy degree (2012) both with distinction from Chattogram (former Chittagong) Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU), Chattogram, Bangladesh. In his glorious academic past, he was awarded President Gold Medal (2012) for the highest academic merits in MS in Anatomy. Later he completed his PhD degree in Neuroscience under the scholastic supervision of Professor Yuji Owada of Graduate School of Medicine, Tohoku University, Japan under MEXT scholarship program in 2016. His research focused on genetic ablation of Ndufs4 gene encoded for electron transport chain (ETC) complex I subunit Ndufs4 protein in regulating neuronal function in developing neurodegenerative disease in a mouse model of Leigh syndrome in human. He has published many peer-reviewed research articles in reputed journals like Scientific Reports, Molecular Neurobiology, PLoS One, Neuroscience, Pharmaceutical Research which have been cited over 200 times.

Dr. Shil is currently interested in investigating the role of oncogenic isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) 1 and 2 mutations in low-grade human glioma proliferation by modulating mitochondrial function.
