Professor Dr. Mukta Das Gupta obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Science (DVM) degree and Master of Science (MS) in Microbiology at Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Bangladesh. She currently holds a position as a professor in the Department of Microbiology and Veterinary Public Health at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, CVASU, Bangladesh.

Dr. Mukta was awarded the Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship in 2017 to undertake her PhD at the Australian National University. Her PhD research was about unravelling the role of the microbiome and Escherichia coli as a trigger for inflammatory bowel disease, with a particular focus on Crohn's disease.

Her scientific interests are molecular microbiology, microbial genomics, microbiome research, and bioinformatics.
